Drawing in the Garden

This practical workshop invites you to immerse yourself in an afternoon of creativity using the beautiful, peaceful garden at Old Rectory as your inspiration.

The workshop will be led by Helen Campbell. During the workshop, Helen will demonstrate mark making and support you while you begin drawing using a range of implements. Using gentle exercises you will be guided to find your own expressive way of mark making and drawing.

Using the garden as inspiration you will be encouraged to look closely to capture the essence of what you see. Through the referencing of other artists you will build your vocabulary of marks and make your own piece of unique art.

The workshop is suitable for anyone who has dreamed of taking up drawing as a mindful practice or those with more experience who seek time and support to deepen their connection to their drawing.

Participants will be able to work at their own pace and make several drawings using a range of media. Practical advice and ideas for developing future work will also be given. We’ll have time at the end too for those that wish to to share their work with the other participants whilst we all enjoy tea and homemade cake in the garden.

Helen is an experienced teacher and practising artist with a degree in History of Art. She has taught art throughout Buckinghamshire and prides herself in encouraging people who have previously felt unable or anxious about drawing to begin their creative journey. She demonstrates her passion and enthusiasm for art and artists by sharing her knowledge of different media and through gentle tutoring ensures all participants’ work is sensitively developed.

This promises to be a thoughtful and productive afternoon and we do hope you can join us.

We have just 6 spaces available, and your investment in the workshop is £35, which includes all materials and refreshments. Booking is via our sister site Breathe4Good
